Clinton Wiper Solo Double
Friday morning 4:15 AM, making coffee and pulling together gear. On the water at 6. First fish at 7:30, trolling deeper in 30’ of water. Wiper double, then 2 singles. Largest 4.5 pounds and 21”. Kept 3 to test with the white bass recipe. Off the water at 11:30. All together about a dozen fish. Found some nice white bass over the creek channels on the triad set up. Caught one on each lure. Key in this heat is the deeper water and getting down to them.

Grilled White Bass
Up at 4am, on the water at 5:30. Slow start, fish started biting at around 8. Caught 6 crappies, 6 white bass, 2 keepers, one catfish. All on FlickerShad, transparent orange was the best. Downrigger at 16 to 20’ with 35’ of line out was the combo, 1.6 to two mph. Clear and hot day. Cleaned the fish at the cleaning station, need to pickup a cordless fillet knife and some gloves. Cleaned all of the red meat away, olive oil, lemon juice, pressed garlic and herbs, marinate for 4 hours cook in grill basket over high heat. Very good fish!

Up at 4 am, installed the Downrigger. Fished Clinton until noon. Caught 2 on Downrigger. 5 total. Hot day, lost new umbrella.

Rainstorm delayed launch into 1 pm, fished until dark. Caught 3 whites, a catfish and 2 wipers.

Monday - CDA GC Golf Practice, Fishing at Lower Twin
Work calls early, returned yard digger, Sonya and I did golf practice at CDA Golf Club, lunch at Riverstone, met Fowler, drove to Spirit Lake and fixed his pit boss bbq. Launched at Sportsman’s access, looked at 3 properties for sale. Pass. Trolled bay near north end, caught 5 rainbow, 5 bluegill, 2 crappie trolling. Got rained off around 6.

Sunday - Round Lake, Sandpoint, Lower Twin
Took a drive up to Round Lake, then ate at a Mexican restaurant in Sandpoint. Took a drive to Lower Twin and looked at the boat launches and cabins. Land with sheds and tiny cabins for sale boat in only side.

Saturday in CDA - Gun Club & Austin’s Yard.
Got up this morning, had some coffee. Arrived at the gun club around 8:30 AM. Austin brought a box of donuts and we waited for the rest of the group to arrive. Matt, Hunter and Jess got there shortly before Brad. We shot a round of trap with Brad and I coaching. Then we shot a round of skeet followed by Brad and I shooting a final round of wobble skeet. Austin and I picked up the loader at Lake City rentals, got to his house and with mats help, Sonya and Carrie. We finished up the front yard project. 6:30 back at Mill River flat.

Friday at Spirit Lake
Met up with Fowler then drove to Spirit Lake, boat trailer thru the McDonald’s drive up in Rathdrum got Brad a demerit from the young lady at the cashiers window. Trolled for Kokanee and Chinooks, caught a cutthroat and one Kokanee. Great day on the water. Grilled some dogs and enjoyed the afternoon on the cabin patio.

Spent the day today prepping for an outing to Spirit Lake tomorrow. Pick up some gear at Black Sheep, rigged it in Brads front yard.

Picked up a rental car for Sonya to drive, dropped truck at Atlas Automotive for AC repair. Brad and I fished Hayden. Launched at Sportsman’s access. Caught 5 species Largemouth, Perch, Smallmouth, Rainbow and Crappie. Great day on the lake.

Early up, Spokane River at Mill River, float boat over to channels on far side, 3 smallmouth on flyrod our of float boat, Work calls until 1:30, met up with Fowler at Fernan Lake. Brad boated 3 largemouth.

Heading to Austin’s house to wait on a load of gravel. Delivery scheduled for 11. Planning to assemble the Roanoke and organize some gear. Went to National skate day and watched the locals work the ramps. Nan shoveled gravel, I repacked the truck including the new float boat. Went to Caruso’s for dinner then back to Mill River.

Up this morning, after breakfast dropped Sonya at Fred Meyer. Black Sheep was mobbed with people but managed to get the inflatable pontoon boat, life vest, pump and fins purchased and loaded up. Went to Austin’s then tacos at the food truck. Picked up lumber and plumbing supplies for the yard project. Built planter under picture window. Rain came, cooked steak and chicken on the BioLite. Loaded the tent onto the new truck racks. Back at Mill River for programs.
